Amici di Peroni with Gianluca Longo – a unique dinner date

DSC_4467

Imagine a beautiful couple (one of them this guy) cruising the streets of Glasgow on their glistening red Vespas and literally pulling fashionable people from said streets to attend a fashionable dinner… in Glasgow.  Seems far fetched I know but that’s mostly how this unique and wonderful Amici di Peroni event hosted by Gianluca Longo came to be last night.

Inspired by the Italian Renaissance tradition of the salone; gatherings of the like-minded under the roof of an inspiring host, whereby participants sought to socialise while they refined their tastes and increased their knowledge through the course of an evening’s conversation.

And I can’t really describe it any better than that myself.  A truly surreal and yet inspired event in the most beautiful setting of Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket – a gem I can’t believe had hidden from me for so long.  Delicious food with even more delicious conversation with an abstract melange of interesting people.  Naturally I was most interested to chat with Gianluca who delighted us with his Tilda Swinton bacon sandwich story and other tastes of his fabulous and fashionable life.  We bonded a little too over our choice to wear scarves, mine Gap and his favourite, Dries Van Noten.  He also advised us on ski destinations – Saint Moritz his top pick!

As part of Amici di Peroni’s collaboration with Gianluca Longa, you can pose your style questions to him by sending a fashionable email to amicidiperoni@77pr.co.uk… – I’d love to know what you might ask him!

P.S.  It was so wonderful to meet this unique collection of people who probably would otherwise never have found themselves together in a room but I especially enjoyed my all too brief chat with Kimberly (pictured above), a self confessed Stockholm fashion snob.
