For such a long time hats were not my friend. I suffer for ‘pea head syndrome’ – read that as when I go skiing and rent a helmet it has flames painted on the side and is labelled for a 7 year old boy. Awesome.
Many hats were bought but one sideways glance in the mirror and that hat would swallow my eyebrows. Many hats were returned.
YouTube was searched and tutorials read, not looking for a solution to my totey head but rather a way to make those giant hats a little smaller. In the end I came up with the simplest and cheapest fix – 2 safety pins and a length of elastic, pinned across the back of the band of fabric lining the head bit of the hat and, hallelujah, a closet filled with hats was to be mine at long last. The end.
And this is one of my favourites (I see they’ve got it in green and mink this season – do I need another? Perhaps). Sticking with the theme of things that are too big, a poncho as a scarf. Why not? The more scarf the better – it is cold.

I just have a head that doesn’t suit hats, haha! I have 2 sun hats and that’s it, I can never find a hat that suits me no matter the size. So it will always be a look I admire on others 🙂

Thank you for styling the M&S cape! I loved the (unobtainable) similar Burberry one and your post on the £700 saving was brilliant. I am currently trying to find ways to wear it which don’t make me look huge, so this is perfect…..whilst also trying to decide if embroidering my initials on it is going to far….

I love that tip, I too have a totey wotey head and literally cannot move when wearing a hat as it just slips off, will be using your tip lots. Adore your suede jacket, looks gorgeous with the cape xx
I have the opposite problem, massive head lol! I just picked up an awesome hat in H&M think I need thiis one in green though
