Introducing Tux & the best kind of exercise

Thankfifi- Pedigree Tracks app-2

Say hello to Tux!  On Saturday we brought home MrK’s little brother (or his great nephew in fact) and the past few days have been one giant puddle of melted hearts.  He’s soft and fluffy and he smells like puppy – you know those weird people that cuddle their dogs real close and just inhale dog… yep, that’s me.  If you’re a dog person then you know exactly what I mean (heck, you do it too) and if you’re not a dog person then you’re thinking I’m a crazy dog lady right about now… ok, I’ll give you that one.

So when Pedigree sent over this hamper it seemed only logical to get one of those cute ‘puppies in baskets’ shots.  Boy was that fun.  Tux wanted to eat the hamper, jump out the hamper, hide in the hamper and bark at the hamper.

You see, the folks over at Pedigree have been doing some research and found that almost half of UK dogs are overweight and, you guys, that makes me so sad.  It’s like seeing overweight children, they don’t know any better and it’s our job to take care of them.  We are a nation of dog lovers so don’t make excuses about the weather or being busy, these little guys love us with all their hearts and it’s our duty to keep them healthy and happy.  What’s even better are all the healthy body and mind benefits that dog walking brings us too – even on a busy day MrK still covers 5 miles and that’s one heck of a free workout for me too.  Win win.

So Pedigree have developed a handy app to help keep us right – Pedigree Tracks.  You enter all the data for your dog and start tracking what you get up to with him, hitting start and stop for everything from indoor play time (there’s a lot of that going on right now – Tux has big love for MrK) to off lead walks.  Throughout the day you can check how you’re doing until you reach the 100% target of daily recommended exercise.  Or, in our case, 150% of the daily recommended exercise… ‘ensure your dog is getting enough rest’ – yep, he’s good – this might be why MrK is such a good, lazy boy in the house!

Honestly I never really doubted that MrK was getting enough exercise, we LOVE to walk.  But let’s all download the app (it’s free!), even just to double check and give ourselves a pat of the back.

And now I’m off for more puppy cuddles… can you blame me?

I’m gonna download this. I think Seb gets enough exercise but want to make sure, no one wants a fat lab. Completely agree btw fat dogs (and kids) is so sad.

    They are super adorable.

This is going to sound so creepy but I think my walk home route is near your walking dogs route as I see your wee fuzzy guys all the time. (I didn’t know you were a blogger, only spotted your blog today, just thought, “those people have cute dogs”. I’m not a stalker- Just another Glasgow based blogger 🙂 ).
