Minibreaking – Crieff Hydro

Meet Eden.  You guys know by now how much I love a minibreak (although I’m not adverse to big breaks either…) and this past weekend we escaped to Crieff Hydro in Perthshire – only an hour and a half from Glasgow but deep, deep in the countryside.  Now the thing about this hotel is that you can really choose to get away from it all and lose yourself in the hills and the spa or you can go all out and make the most of the many activities hidden away in the surrounding fields.

We enjoyed the best of both worlds, exploring the beautiful landscape on horseback (seriously it doesn’t get more romantic than riding side by side in peace and looking out at that view), followed by a soak and steam in the Victorian spa – the perfect combination I reckon.  Naturally we did a lot of walking which MrK and Tux were delighted about… we climbed up The Knock and took the advice of a local who we met in the sauna (don’t you just love it when that happens?!) and strolled along Lover’s Walk by the river the next morning and we discovered the gardens and grounds of the hotel…  I fancied the climbing wall and the tennis too but we were staying in a duplex cottage with a pink fenced terrace and spending time snuggled up in there with my boys was just too tempting after all that fresh air.  Aaand relax.

Oh I definitely need a break. This place looks so wonderful. As fun as city breaks are, sometimes you just needs fields, trees and lots of fresh air!

Yes they were absolutely fine – Karhu took a nap whilst Tux ate the room key 😉 They were’nt allowed in the hotel as far as I’m aware but we only ever left then for 2-3 hours max and they were pretty tired as we had them on a lot of really good walks.x
