Six months

Just like that.

And all the awkward and awesome things that come along with it.  Like feeling all those little fluttering movements turning into body popping dance moves in my belly that literally fill me with all the warm fuzzies (even when it’s 5am).  Like standing on the scales and weighing a pound more every single week, 10lb so far, which is super freaky and also amazing at the same time – I’m growing a tiny person and every week it gets a little bigger and better and ready to fight the world.  Like my belly button taking on a whole new persona, seriously, it’s like another body part sometimes it sticks so far out…  Like pains in places I didn’t know existed as my body does all those weird and wonderful things that mothers’ bodies do to prepare.  Like hearing my own heartbeat in my ears when I walk up a hill or get out of bed too fast or sometimes just when I’m doing nothing at all (like right now, it’s happening right now and I’m just sat on my bed, for real).  Like the husband finding me tearful in my closet last week because not a single thing fits, seriously, not one thing…  and then shopping for all the things.  Like my skin being so dry I may need to bathe in olive oil but my hair growing thicker and faster than it has since I was a toddler.  Like worrying about anything and everything and a lot of completely absurd things but also just being completely and utterly full of love for my little growing family.

I can identify with all of these things & can also testify to it getting better… You are glowing & beautiful & I am so excited for you. Enjoy it, photograph it & note down every special moment!

Thanks Gillian, I think there are so many weird and wonderful things that only mothers ever really experience!

Oh this is a beautiful photo! I wish I’d taken progress shots like this with my pregnancies. I did one silhoutte one at 39 weeks with both boys which was nice, but didn’t have any in progress ones and it would have been nice to see the bumps grow.

PRegnancy is a special time, and don’t worry at all about crying over things not fitting. I hit that wall (and the tears) in the second trimester both times and had a mini shopping spree to help!

I meant to take photos every week but life seemed to get in the way and so I have one from 2 months and then this one at 6 months but from now on I will try to do one a fortnight! Try…
(And yes, the shopping spree has helped enormously!).x
