Overdressed to the maxi

Here’s what I wore to the opening night of the ballet last weekend.  I had borrowed the Swarovski from a friend for the occasion and loved it; I may have managed to squeeze in another wear before the weekend was up and I had to hand it back!

You’d think an occasion like this would mean unashamedly dressing to the nines.  Well, it did for me but not so much anyone else.  Oops.  Overdressed?  Most definitely.  Here’s the thing – if you can’t get all done up in your finery for a night like this then when can you?  And at first, I must admit, I felt a bit out of place but as the night wore on I came to the conclusion that everyone else was underdressed.  I stopped thinking about whether I was wearing something appropriate and started just enjoying a look that I was really pleased with.  I had spent a good couple of hours customising my tee beforehand so I wasn’t about to regret it!  I really liked the pieces I’d put together and at the end of the day that’s all that matters – not whether you’re dressed the same as the majority.  A bit of a cliché I know…
