Spencer Clothing’s Fifi Dress?

Gilmour dress – Spencer Clothing

This week I had the pleasure of a jaunt over to Edinburgh’s Studio 128 to see Spencer Clothing’s new range being photographer by Reuben Paris (who I have just discovered lives on my block – I’m now wondering if he ever sees us amateurs snapping away outside his window…).

The collection, designed by Judy Clark, incorporates professional, formal leisure and eveningwear in a range of 28 pieces.  There was a fair amount of tweedy fabric and excellent tailoring in a limited colour palette.  I suspect the shapes the models were creating don’t necessarily convey what a wearable collection this truly is.  Born from Judy’s love of Victoriana/Scottish fusion, I imagine Spencer Clothing’s lady would be a classic dresser with an eye for well cut pieces who enjoys a nod to heritage.  Aimed into the high-end high street market, these pieces might even be affordable!  My personal favourite was the heavy pleated dress, shown above, and with the promise of a piece from the collection being named after each blogger in attendance, you can guess which one I’m hoping will be the Fifi…  just picturing it paired with a metal waist belt, very nice, very nice indeed.

The footwear provided by Shhh-oohs was pretty special; hello, cut-out booties and the studio wasn’t anything shabby either; an artists’ dream really.  The team looked after us very well in the cake and beverage department too with Judy herself pouring my San Pellegrino.  Thanks!

I can now update to reveal that the dress I had my eye on has been named Gilmour which you may or may not know to be my second name.  Good times!
