The ring

ThankFifi-Rings-2

This is not a story of hobbits.  However, this is a story of loss and beauty and love and friendship.  So not really that dissimilar to the multi-million selling epic.

A few of you have asked about my rings and, because this close up my fingers look like Angelina’s (hey, at least one part of me looks like her), here are my rings on a beautiful orchid which has not yet fallen victim to my anything-but-green fingers.

Yes, my engagement ring is vintage.  Actually it’s my second.  The first family heirloom (from my mother’s side) went astray after I removed it to go running.  I had this completely irrational fear that it would fly off my finger as I ran so I would always leave it at home.  Ironically I lost it… at home.  It’s still sad to think about even though it was years ago.

Somehow the mother-in-law produced this family treasure the week before our wedding.  Not only is it beautiful, it’s very similar to its predecessor.  Needless to say, I never take it off.

Wow! Wendy! Your rings are stunning! And I love how you presented them! I completely understand how it feels to lose a family heirloom..and it’s devastating… I have lost a necklace at home too! How is that possible?! I hope one day it will magically appear….as do I hope yours appears again. Xxx

so glad I’m not the only one – it does seem crazy doesn’t it to lose something in your own home… maybe one day we will both be lucky

I can’t imagine having a modern ring – just don’t think it would have been ‘me’

Oh, that is beautiful. A family heirloom like that has so much meaning and love – it must feel wonderful to carry that with you everyday.

thanks darby, glad you like it – thought it might be a little odd being in a plant but there’s no way I could take a decent shot one handed (aside from the fact my hands this close up are a horror!)

In this life things happen and no matter how much we wish we could turn back time and change those events we cannot. And it blows! But that ring (and flower) are very very beautiful! And yes don’t take it off.
