Last night I popped out to check out my friend’s shopping haul. This checked number was the main contender but, with quite a high price tag, her future was uncertain… I needed to know what she was really made of. And by that I mean I needed to read the composition label. Perhaps the day job has ruined me forever – the textiles industry has me checking those hard to reach labels before I even try the darn thing on. You know when you start off snug in your nice new turtleneck and wind up a sticky, stinky mess? Acrylic. And in the summer when your pretty cami is stuck to your back? Polyester.
So you could argue that I have expensive taste but I would argue that in your 30’s you don’t want to be wearing the clothing equivalent of jewellery that turns your finger green. Enter the good stuff. The bits that last year after year. Invest wisely. Mohair culottes and silk bomber jackets do not smart investments make. !00% wool knits like this Bastyan beauty and pure leather skinnies (you know these are my favs) are going to put in the fashion miles. And you won’t break a sweat.
In other news, this gorgeous fire of leaves makes my heart sing (if you must know it’s probably singing ‘Happy’ by Pharell) and that little squirrel guy down there wasn’t going anywhere fast… he was just hanging, eyeing MrK suspiciously, but going nowhere. Maybe his heart was singing too.

I love this knit its really classy! It looks great worn with these leggings, a great combo of leather and jersey = style and comfort!
I’m a label checker too, how many people have been fooled by a great looking acylic knit which after a few wears and washes looks like a dogs dinner!

Maybe! A friend gave it to me as a gift from a Thai market and I love adding it to everything right now – perhaps it is making the dog and the squirrel nervous…?! (Although it is faux fur!)

They have worn sooo well! I’m not exaggerating if I say I wore them 2-3 times a week for the whole AW last year and it looks like it’s going the same way this year… they bagged out a little in the derriere as they’re jersey to the back and I couldn’t decide what to do. Then one day the husband accidentally washed them in the machine and, after my initial heart attach, they were actually good as new!
I fell in love with that narin cardigan the moment I saw your blog post, but unfortunately Bastyan are completely sold out and have removed it from their website. Woe!
