Cobblers Cove, Barbados

A little step in time but it seems quite right that 2015 should finish in Cobblers Cove because this place was so magical it perfectly sums up the beautiful adventures I am so thankful for…

A place where your whole world is pink – from the colonial house to the striped beach towels and parasols to the bathrobes to the sunsets to the hotel flippin’ speedboat.  All the most glorious pink.

Where you will be handed a house rum punch as soon as you arrive and you’ll step right down into that little cove and gaze out at the turquoise-iest ocean you ever did see and decide this is paradise.

Where Mr H has been coming in his fedora and linen shirt for 48 years on the trot to stay in one of only 40 suites (where everyone knows your name and you feel like a part of a very special club) and you can see why.  Life goals…

Where you will be lying by the pool in the baking mid afternoon sun and be offered a blood orange sorbet on the house just because it’s warm and it might be refreshing.  And it is.

Where afternoon tea is served daily at 4pm and you’re rather sure you couldn’t possibly but somehow you do (because you’re on holiday and this simply isn’t the kind of place you worry about your waistline – in fact it is absolute luxury and yet not pretentious in the slightest which is rare and so perfect).

Where you might wander through the torch lit grounds to the cocktail party on a Tuesday evening to enjoy more rum punch and get acquainted with the other guests followed by the most incredible barbecue of fine steak and local fish and it all tastes so good you can’t truly fit in quite as much as you wish you could.

Where you fall asleep to the sound of tree frogs and wake to open your slatted doors onto the island gardens and just relax because there is no need to lock doors here.

Where you spend your days doing nothing more than swimming out through the calmest water to the floating sundeck in the middle of the blue ocean – the most perfect itinerary… (but if we’d stayed longer I would certainly have been visiting the local fish markets with chef and enjoying a cooking lesson – if you eat in the restaurant you will understand why).

Where you feel so blessed to be there that you know you’ll remember it forever – a complete sense of peace and happiness in paradise.  Take me back…
