48 hr city break – capsule wardrobe

Berlin minibreak capsule wardrobe with Zalando - Thankfifi Scottish fashion blog-4

I’ve done my fair share of travelling and packing this year and I always fall back on that saying, ‘Failure to prepare is preparing to fail (especially when your luggage allowance is one tiny carry on)’.  I teamed up with Zalando to share my ultimate suitcase for a 48 hour minibreak which I tried and tested in Berlin and I gotta tell you, it worked.  I packed LIGHT.  There was space in my case.  (I’m a poet and I know it).

Choosing pieces which go the extra mile is key and these flatforms really hit the mark.  They were super comfy (and we walked, like 12 miles a day) but still gave me height for day and night and the neutral colour paired well with every look I packed.  I will confess I also packed a pair of heels but I didn’t wear them once.  These babies were spot on.  Here are some of my top picks:

A cross body bag is hands down the best choice for a mini break.  You literally put it on and don’t need to worry about it for the rest of the day.  I don’t usually travel with a purse as I prefer to pull a card or money straight out my bag (nothing for anyone to grab and run off with – safety first) so as long as I can fit my lip balm, sunscreen, glasses, city map and phone in there, I’m pretty much good to go.  My little baby is all sold out which is so sad because my love for this bag knows no bounds but I’ve linked some other favs here:

Once I got those down I honestly just focussed on layering.  I threw in some denim, the shorts and jumpsuit were easy basics for me and that little dress saw me through a Saturday night as well as Sunday drinks by the river…  I won’t lie to you – I felt a teeny tiny bit smug when everyone else was humming and hawing over outfits and my choices were made so simple.  Winning.

You might spy in there my current fav Sassoon Illuminating Oil for hair and Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturiser SPF30 (both 100ml carry on friendly) but honestly, beauty travel is a whole other post so let’s come back to that later…  But just know these guys are my heros.

So here’s the case, in a one-er.  Stay tuned this week for the full Berlin photo diary.

No option to overpack with a carry on 😉
