Influencers influencing influencers

Well that is kinda a mouthful.  Straight up I am truly not a fan of the term ‘influencer’, preferring the original ‘blogger’ tag – I just feel that more accurately describes what I do and what I am; Thankfifi is a blog which I create and curate and the purpose of the social media content that comes along with that is to promote that platform and space, my blog.  That being said, I could not pass up a catchy title and honestly if I coulda fitted ‘influenza’ in there too I would have.  It is the modern day ‘she sells seashells on the seashore’…

Anyway, I digress.

Somewhere along the the way Ganni got cool.  I did not discover the brand through a feature in Vogue magazine (I do LOVE the creative in Vogue but, seriously, who can afford anything published in Vogue?).  I know about Ganni because of instagram and ‘influencers’.  Were they sponsored to wear and share?  I have no idea.  But when you watch enough of Laura’s IG stories and click through to enough £1k price tag items and then every once in a while Ganni pops up, you start to feel like anything around the £100 mark is damn near a bargain.  Obviously I know it is not, but it feels that way.  I know Anna is a big Ganni fan too and whilst I reckon some of her pieces come via a Net-A-Porter gift box (not backed up by fact, just my guess), she also for sure shares some favs bought with her own pennies too.  There are countless others who are fans too.  And somewhere along the way I just started to get this feeling that Ganni was a brand worth investing in.  So I added it to my clearance sale search on Net-A-Porter and The Outnet.  Honestly I only really shop NAP in sale season and I filter by size and designer – usually Zimmermann, Temperley, See by Chloe, Dodo Bar Or, Isabel Marant Etoile…  and now Ganni.  And then this top popped up.  Reduced from £90 down to £36.  And it was my colours and I like a fitted high neck and I took a chance.  And I love it.

So it works.  At least on me.  That being said I have never seen this particular piece on any other influencer (although I am certain they are out there) but this is my little piece of Ganni, my way.  Next on my Ganni wishlist is this dress but *sharp intake of breath* it is new season aka full price so I am currently vying to convince the more frugal side of my brain that I would style it a hundred different ways and wear it forever or at least until checked prints are no longer cool (probably in approximately six weeks).

And as I promised a few posts back, you can find my entire look…  er…  nowhere.  Yes the top is still available, although not with the huge Net-A-Porter discount but with a rather more tentative discount, here but the jeans were in the Zara sale and are now sold out (I already had them but when I saw them down to a tenner I snapped up the next size down because all my hard work with Colin in the gym has been paying off).  The boots are from last winter and the belt is so sought after that when I finally got the email to say they had one in my size available there were 1430 other people also waiting for the very same belt – so I stuck with the wrong size I already had and punched an extra hole in it – in short it is very much sold out.  The shipping, from Australia, on the hat will kill ya but, if you love it as much as I do, you might deem it worth it and the Aspinal bag was a gift a while back and one I will certainly treasure forever but the hefty price tag does make it an investment.  However, you can absolutely recreate the hair bobble round the wrist look by popping to any pound store and grabbing a pack…  I tried to convince the husband to reshoot the entire image group when I saw that damn bobble.  He politely declined.  So there it is.

That is a beautiful top, glad you were able to snag it on sale! I’ve definitely been influenced.inspired to buy or try things based on things I’ve seen on other blogs! It makes blogging an expensive pursuit sometimes, so I understand waiting until things go on sale! 🙂

Hope that you have a wonderful weekend ahead of you! 🙂

Definitely – blogging can indeed be an expensive pursuit… I try to sell things regularly to combat my spending but also shop on sale and stick to a strict budget (which at the moment is in a deficit so I technically need to wait 6 week before I can buy anything new – wish me luck!). Have a great weekend also.x
