The return of Dad sandals

Confession : I wore these Fitflop slides* every day for ten days straight.

Truly my intention was for them to be my pool shoes but the reality was that, for a large portion of our holiday, it rained.  Heavy.  The beautiful cobbled streets and stone stairs that wound up through the old town to our villa turned into a veritable river.  A river that flowed the full width of the street and was deep enough to submerge the tops of your shoes.  Shortly following our check-in we had a row of neatly lined up soggy sneakers by the front door eagerly awaiting the arrival of the sun to dry them out.  It was two whole days before the sun did in fact make an appearance.

When it did, you can see, it was glorious and I got to wear my pool slides but, in the dreich meantime, these slides were also my saviour.  You know I bang on about the comfort of Fitflop all the time and these are no exception – the triple-density Microwobbleboard midsole was engineered by two pioneering British biomechanists and not only helps absorb shock but can also diffuse underfoot pressure by instantly increasing the contact area of the foot to the midsole.  Sounds technical I know but, take my word for it, they are Comfy (yes, with a capital C).

Honestly the new Heda styles* (linked my favourite colours and styles right there) tick all the boxes of the imminent Dad sandal trend and the only reason I chose not to opt for full on Dad chic with back strap was because of le bump; now at the six month mark this lil’ babe is beginning to obstruct the route to my feet and anything that slides on and off is a triumph.
