My FitFlop winter boot edit

I really want to say ‘winter is coming’ in true GOT voice but truly winter has cometh.  I am looking out through the patio doors and there is frost on the ground and not because it’s 6am, it is 9am and the sun is shining but that frost is still crisp.  So I accept, winter is well and truly here and it is time to embrace it (with the exception of tights because you know I just don’t do tights, leather leggings yes, tights no – although if anyone has any truly comfortable tights recommendations please throw them my way via the comments at the end).  And it is time for boots.

So here I am with a post all about boots and a pretty nice, if I do say so myself, winter boot edit from FitFlop AW19.  There was A LOT to choose from and honestly I ordered two of these pairs before we even settled upon the concept of an edit.  And then when I went back on site to select a couple more, well, these hiking boots had landed and I fell in love pretty hard.  In short, it was easy in some ways to compile this edit because I honestly adore the new season styles, I can’t help feeling FitFlop* have really upped their game (again) this season, but it was tricky to narrow it down because I could probably add at least four more pairs.  But nobody really needs eight pairs of winter boots do they?  Do they?!  So I selected a boot for every occasion and here they are – scroll down to see my top four pairs, each styled a different way – would love to know which look is your favourite…

Let’s start with a classic.  The knot boot* is one of those boots that is ageless, you can wear it in your twenties but I could also totally see my mum wearing these (let’s just say I fall somewhere in the middle shall we?).  The leather is super soft, obviously they are incredibly comfortable because of that special FitFlop footbed technology, and I love the classic shape of the boot with the knot detail at the ankle.  They pair well with jeans as well as dresses and will pretty much work for you all year round – like I said, a classic.

Ok, so these were the boots that made my heart skip a beat.  I saw them on the new in page and was just like, ‘wow, FitFlop, you have outdone yourself’ and here is why – my life is too busy for hiker boots and dealing with that spaghetti of laces but these Skandi boots* have all the laces with none of the faff because they have zips – genius.  Also, and this is probably a minor for any normal person but a major for me, they have gold hardware.  I rule out leather jackets and handbags alike because of silver detailing and, whilst I have nothing against silver, I just love gold (full points if you too are playing Austin Powers in your head right now).  They do come in black leather with silver hardware too if that’s more your thing by the way.  So far I have been pairing them with skirts, perhaps because I want to show them off, and they make me feel, dare I say it, trendy.

These Glace boots* rocked into my life and I wore them so much I had to give them a thorough clean before I could even consider shooting them for this.  They are basically the ultimate dog walking boot – water resistant, super lightweight (like weirdly so), chunky, frankly an immense grippy sole, obviously comfy and still with a slight nod to that hiker vibe.

Last but by no means least I’ve gone full on snow boot.  These babies* just fill all my ski bunny dreams and they will be coming with me to Chamonix in January (for our ten year wedding anniversary, woah).  The calf length version had not yet launched when I ordered these but, I don’t know, perhaps they’re even better?  I always say the bigger the boot, the smaller the leg and these babies nail it.

So that is IT – the winter boot edit – I think I covered all the bases; from fashion to function and the various weathers we might encounter (I left out the Wonderwelly* only because that guy has a whole post to himself).  It probably goes without saying that I am hugely proud to work with FitFlop* and, whilst this post forms part of our paid partnership, if you watch my daily Intsagram stories then you already know that I wear these boots almost every day in life because I choose to, I love them.  Which pair is your favourite?

Yes I would say so – I am a 5.5uk and that’s what I got – they fit me perfectly. Hope that helps!
