The July 5

This month was just the most delicious mix of alfresco life and my monthly favourites pretty much encapsulate that whole vibe – non-commitment shopping, the prettiest hob to table ‘do it all’ pan, mindless tv, Scottish escapes and sustainable sunnies…

SHOP

This month LK Bennett launched LK Borrowed – a rental service allowing unlimited returns and swaps with delivery and dry cleaning thrown in.  My Frenchi top is part of the collection – try it for as long as you like before returning it OR, if you have fallen in love, you have the option to buy with a generous discount.  For £79 a month this offers a super sustainable way to dress in higher end pieces without the big bucks commitment – with subscription rentals already a big hit with shoppers in the US, I wonder if this might be the start of a new trend for UK fashion retail…

COOK

Behold the holy grail of pans – the Always Pan.  I received this pan last week and, let me tell you, it is incredible – like ‘throw all the other pans out’ good.  It does the job of eight traditional cookware pieces in one, it is beeeeeautiful (I went for blue salt but the sage and steam colourways were strong contenders) and the non-stick is so superior my other pans are weeping with shame.  It would free up a lot of cupboard space by taking the place of quite a few other bits that are now rendered useless…  but I cannot bring myself to hide it in the cupboard so it sits, pride of place, atop the hob (which works well for me as I now use it for poaching, frying, boiling, steaming, etc. and on and on).  So far the only downside I have encountered is the substantial price tag but, I am inclined to say, it is worth it.

Pictured below with my favourite quick one pan wonder – pan fried, crispy, streaky bacon, petit pois and fresh gnocchi with green pesto and a splash of cream stirred through at the last minute.

WATCH

Should I be embarrassed to admit just how deep my love affair with Below Deck is?  Perhaps.  But with seven seasons of the reality tv show plus six seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean under my belt there is no denying it.  In truth I am not usually a fan of this genre (previous exceptions include The Hills in my early twenties and, more recently, Selling Sunset) but the beautiful locations coupled with the crew drama has sucked me in big time.  The husband would arguably be rather ashamed to admit that he is also hooked.  I could ask what to do with my time as we wait for weekly episodes of the current season to air but clearly the answer is to dive into the archives of Below Deck Sailing Yacht…  Powerless.  To.  Stop.

READ

This month I was feeling a little stumped on the ‘read’ recommendation.  Truth be told I have not had much time for reading myself…  so I posed the question to Instagram and one of my lovely followers (and friends) said she was loving my Scottish Minibreaking series.  I have to say, if ever there was a time to delve into the archives of my local holidays recommendations then that time is now so I will leave you with this link, grab yourself a cuppa, peruse at your leisure and you might find inspiration for your next trip – Scotland really does have a lot to offer and I will be the first to admit I have only scratched the surface.

WEAR

Sunnies all day every day.  A great pair of sustainable sunglasses are hard to come by but Scottish brand Kartel have nailed it.  With each pair recovering 2kg of ocean bound plastic and a price point of £65 for great quality, polarized lenses, you can feel pretty smug wearing these beauties.  I have found myself reaching for my pair, the Morzine in tortoiseshell, more and more this past month – the frame shape is super flattering, I adore the speckled tones and the comfort of the acetate frame is even winning out over my beloved aviators…

Those sunnies are awesome! I really wish there were more affordable rental companies here – it’s a good idea that you can rent then buy the clothes like you have and they have in the US, but nothing like that here in Australia yet.

Hope you are having a nice weekend 🙂 Ours is going to be a quiet one at home!
