Saturday night the husband and I took a taxi for what would have been a 7 minute walk but it’s justified when you’re going to a black tie event right? The Scottish Variety Awards was held at Crowne Plaza and we got to pretend we belong at do’s like this for a night. Made new friends; thanks Scott and SPD Print Solutions for hosting us with the most generously beverage laden table in the room (if you ever need anything printed they’re your guys and I’m sure they don’t drink that much at work).
The MC’s, Clyde 1’s Knoxy and Romeo, were good fun and I was more than delighted to see Best New Scottish Designer go to Judy Clark of Spencer clothing – as if that wasn’t approval enough, Emeli Sande was rockin’ one of Judy’s jackets for the evening too!
Truly though, the highlight of the night was a performance by Emeli – she really is a girl Scotland can be very, very proud of. The whole room was blown away.
Weird moment of the night, apart from some of the fashion disasters (high school prom anyone), was the taxi journey home. Ran a red light – not in the ‘just missed amber’ kind of way, but in the ‘these lights are murder’ way when you just drive right on through.
P.S. Just a sneak peek at my look for the night – I’ll show you the rest tomorrow!
