Truly one of the most beautiful and thoughtful hotels I have ever stayed at (can a hotel be thoughtful? Yes, yes it can).
Waking up in a sea of serene green and white to a view of Parga bay through floor to ceiling windows, you can already hear the crickets chirping in the grasses and you start to think about breakfast. Pouring yourself a glass of juice freshly squeezed from the oranges in the hotel’s grove you’re beginning to wonder why you don’t have a grove at home. The buffet is fresh and speckled with beautiful treats on individual tasting spoons and always followed with a second course of Nutella crepes (because you’re on holiday). Looking out with a happy belly from the shaded terrace, the lonely loungers nestled in front of the waterfall wall are beckoning you.
You reach your poolside bed and George has already popped a fluffy fresh towel there for you. Settling in for a tough combination of dozing, reading and smiling, you have completely forgotten what a normal morning is like. Just as the effects of that crepe begin to wear off, George places a fresh fruit platter between you… just because. You smile some more.
Lunchtime rolls around and you know it’s not terribly adventurous to order the same salad 4 days in a row but ever since that first day, when you ordered the prosciutto, strawberry, cheese and blackened sesame salad, there’s been no other choice for you. You look out at the bay some more before retiring back to your lounger.
Cocktail o’clock creeps up and some tough choices must be made. Pina coladas usually win out but, now and again, when the husband offers to ‘cook the books’ on the daily budget, a mojito or two might follow. As the sun sets you sit together at the edge of the pool with your legs in the cool water and talk about dreams and memories and all the things there never seem to be time for at home. Sometimes you wonder where all the people are because it’s so blissfully quiet and then you remember that the hotel is full with just 60 guests.
Before the sun disappears you’ll make it onto your balcony where you’ll talk some more and never leave enough time to ‘do’ your hair (but you don’t really want to anyway). A quick stop under your rainfall shower and you’re ready to head down the mountain a little into Parga.
You spend the evening wandering the beautiful streets and looking silently out over the bay at the sunset. You can’t quite believe somewhere so beautiful exists and that you’re lucky enough to be here and you wonder why you’re going home…

This is not a sponsored post but just my strong desire to share with you one of the most beautiful places I have ever been lucky enough to enjoy – in short, when we booked this hotel, we lucked out. Salvator Villas and Spa Hotel, Parga, Greece.
Of course we took a bazillion shots so I’ve uploaded them into a Facebook album.
Looks amazing, I’ve had to favourite the page just so I remember the place and can maybe take someone there in the future.
can’t recommend it highly enough Ben, hope you get to go one day

This is a fab post Wendy, it looks stunning and I love your narrative. I think Bex will need to visit given all the green in the hotel and I am happy to be the self-less friend that offers to go with her 😉
