Making midis work

A Friday surprise… stripes.  You know as soon as I saw this Next number I was sold, because of the stripes and because of the price, £20 friends, and because it just has that whole summer nautical trend nailed – the trend that rolls around every summer…  it’s just summer and blue and white are always right in the summer.  And stripes are always right, full stop.

But the midi can be something of a challenge.  I do think a looser top would have worked just fine here if I’d been in the mood for heels which I clearly was not.  I love the azure blue of the Carven tee and the bands of jersey really hold you tight in all the right places (and what luck – it’s on The Outnet now with a huge discount).  I found when I tucked it up slightly into this almost crop that the sliver of midriff balanced the length in the skirt (excuse the food baby, I wore this to Easter Sunday lunch and shot after…).

Didn’t this week just fly by?  I’m gutted really as this weekend we’re saying farewell to some very good friends of ours who are emigrating to the Cayman Islands, as you do, lucky buggers.  I’ve picked up these sparkly beauties for the occasion.  Downside?  No pockets for my tissues.x
