During our time in Kuala Lumpur we had, as my Dad would day, the opporchancity to meet Tom Abang Saufi. To try to describe her character to you would be futile but she makes you smile and fills you with passion for her designs. Hand crafted in her studio, many of the printed pieces even hand painted in traditional batik technique, the collections are fluid and colourful. No zips or buttons mean the silks simply rest on your skin. It’s no surprise that she closed KL Fashion Week just 24 hours before we met.
Suffice to say I was smitten. Two pieces came with me to Langkawi where we raced against the sunset clock to get the shots in what seemed impossible time. The beautiful backdrop of The Danna, combined with the ease of working with Nancy and of course the dream dress – sometimes everything just comes together…
