I want to be a morning person I really really do… but often, when I’m cocooned in the big cloud of duvet, mornings can be a little tricky to embrace. But I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve to make mornings better…
Get up at sunrise with the birds… no seriously. Ok, maybe not exactly but for Christmas Santa brought me a Lumie Bodyclock and I love that guy – birdsong and sunrise every morning (goodbye scrunched up, blinking, ‘morning already?’ eyes). I wake up smiling and that’s the truth.
Get active. I love Jillian Michaels 6 week 6 pack and although there’s not always time to get the sweat on, there is at the very least a dog walk and that gets the brain and body going before heading into the real day. Win.
Eat clean. Starting off on the right foot sets me up for the day and I just discovered smoothie bowls – why drink it when you can spoon it?! Scroll down to the bottom for my Mango, Avocado & Kale Smoothie Bowl recipe (I promise it doesn’t taste green).
Let the colour in. I’m going gaga over this rainbow of shoes from Boden – their SS15 shoe game is STRONG. It was love at first sight. The Alice heels have been all over the interwebs and I don’t mind jumping on that bandwagon – these girls are beauties with their cute tassels and sorbet colours and polkadots. When you’re in a jeans and tee kinda mood, all you need is great shoes and you’re done. Suffice to say, these babies are making mornings better.

Mango, Avocado & Kale Smoothie Bowl
1/2 a large mango
1/2 a large avocado
1 small handful of kale
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 small handful of berries
Blend. Blend. Blend everything except the berries. Add more or less milk depending if you’re a straw sipping smoothie kinda type or more of a spoon it straight into your mouth kinda type. I like spooning (there, I said it).
Decorate with berries or seeds or nuts or whatever takes your fancy. Eat green.x
And thanks to The You Way (the book in the shots) for such a wonderful feature – it’s really an honour to be featured alongside so many of my style heros and inspirations.x
