Hello, it’s my birthday… but I’ve already had my birthday dinner. One of them anyway. Food nourishes the body and so I feel that one birthday meal is simply not enough. But here’s the first…
Well I gotta tell you – it’s not my first time. I am a repeat offender. Not only have I been to Ox and Finch more than my fair share of times, I am also fairly partial to tentatively rocking up circa 9.50pm on a Saturday night with no booking and a hopeful look on my face. It usually works.
And so I am well qualified to state that this is my favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Small plates are my friends because, between ordering for myself and the husband too, I pretty much get to try all of the food. All the food. Because I want it all because it is all good. Nah, good doesn’t really cover it – this food is super tasty, always fresh, inventive and completely, instagrammably pretty (instagrammably has that rude, wiggly, red typo line under it in my blog editor but I’m pushing it forward as a legit word anyway).
So let’s take a look at the goodies… with a bit of what I wore thrown in for good measure (because, ya know, this be a fashion blog and I got dressed) but mostly, let’s look at the food and especially that baked alaska down there…
…
top – Zara :: scarf – Seafolly :: belt – Joules
jean – Gap :: alice heel – Boden
glasses – H&M :: hope bracelet – Stella & Dot
watch – Daniel Wellington
maida vale bag – Boden
See, what did I tell you? Instagrammably pretty rainbow beets with goats cheese and candied walnuts. Party in your mouth right there and technically that’s just a vege dish.
More gorgeousness; not just the interior but those small plates right there should be framed on my wall they’re so darn beautiful. At this point I gotta give a little shout out to my Sony RX100 who is still behaving like a pro for all these low light on the go shots, well done ol’ chap.
But wait, what’s this? Oh yes, it’s lemon Earl Grey baked alaska. Hello friend!
I do love an open kitchen so that’ll be another box ticked. What else? Well, it’s not cheap – we were £80 for the two of us and a couple of drinks each. But you know what? Worth every penny. But let’s not head off without one more shot of this guy… big yums.
Happy birthday Wendy! π
I love the belted scarf, and that meal looks delicious, definitely a nice way to celebrate a birthday!
