Some rules for layering because we need so many layers right now and the Michelin Man is not my style hero…
Colour block the base – that first layer of all black gives the height here.
Co-ordinate the top layers – neutrals are safe but shades of grey or blue and navy or even prints in the same colour group are going to work just as well. Helps tone down the crazy – you might be wearing all your clothes but you don’t want it to look like you’re wearing all your clothes.
Add a little lace. A delicately trimmed cami or edge of a lace bra does wonders (eyelash please – lusting after this one or the budget friendly on Asos). Somehow under chunky layers of knit it seems almost balanced to reveal a little, no? Just me?
Sexy shoes. ‘Nuff said. I picked these up in the Topshop sale but there are some similar here, here and here. Incidentally I’m a little obsessed with lace up shoes right now…
Bonus points for coordinating with the dog?
…
chunky knit – Gap :: Gap fine knit – Zalando
lace top – Zara :: leather legging – Boden
lace up flat – Topshop (similar here, here or here)
keats bag – Radley
coat – Infindigo

I’ve always worried that a colour like this would wash me out but you have very similar colouring to me and it looks great! Maybe I will have to invest in some chic beige and cream cardigans x
