The Biarritz reunion

I’ve got a little story to tell you and you’ll have to bear with me here because we need to rewind fourteen years…  I was studying painting at art school and eating lunch almost daily with one of my very best friends at the Italian restaurant just one block away.  Was it the best food?  No.  Was it an instagrammers dream?  Nope (keep up guys – 14 years ago phones made calls, not photos…).  Was the waiter handsome?  Well now that you ask, yes he was.  I was shy but Samaiah wasn’t and so, unbeknownst to me, she offered him my number.  He called.  And eight years later, the waiter became the husband…

The wedding was in France and of course S was there.  It really meant so much to me that so many of our friends and family travelled to The Alps in the depths of winter to celebrate with us but S travelled alone which was extra special.  It was a truly magical few days…

But friends scatter over the years and S moved overseas to Australia followed by Tahiti and finally put down roots in Biarritz with a new husband and two babies.  And then finally, last weekend, six years since my wedding, we had the chance to see one another again, in Biarritz…

I have quite a few Links of London pieces already and was delighted when they offered me the chance to choose something special for S from their selection of wedding gifts.  So I slipped into my French flag dress (of course) and took that pretty little black bag to Biarritz where much hugging and smiling and laughter was had.  It was so lovely to finally be able to tell S how much she really means to me and to gift her this beautiful narrative bracelet which we’re engraving with a simple ‘thank you’.x
