What can I say other than that I have finally graduated into a ‘grown up’ home – I have a proper, upholstered, buttoned footstool. The one key piece I never knew I was missing… and yet I knew something was missing; the husband needs somewhere to rest his size thirteens and I need somewhere to park my G&T (ok, just the ‘T’ at the moment).
And then when Furniture Village invited me to collaborate with them and introduced me to their, quite frankly, immense range, well, this piece from the Parker Knoll collection just jumped right out to me. ‘Hello’, it said, ‘How do you do? Might I be so bold as to suggest that I could be the missing piece in your adult puzzle?’. And I got to thinking – here lay an answer to the feet up relaxation request, a solution for the errant drinks and, the bonus, enough space left over to style in some terribly grown up coffee table books.
You see, this room is intended to be a mature space where one might retire after the children go to bed. A space without dog hair and sticky, little hands. It has raw plaster walls (i.e. unable to be wiped or cleaned) and upholstered furniture in a range of tricky finishes like velvet, pale pink linen and, now, cream. But I will tell you one thing I had not even considered when I picked out this very grown up footstool – it makes a darn good toddler climbing frame too… and I would not have it any other way.

Couldn’t agree more – I was never really sure how to solve this problem of needing a footstool and table both in one but I’m so happy I stumbled across this piece – so perfect!
