Crabshakk is one of those places which has been pretty much booked out ever since opening it’s doors 3 years ago. But now, open on Sundays and not taking bookings, we saw our chance to fulfil an 18 month promise – the Fruits de Mer. It’s not that we’ve not been before, a few times actually, but the last time the husband and my Dad vowed to come back for that enormous platter that would surely demand hours of eating (they weren’t wrong). A lot has passed in that 18 months and so it felt really special to be there with my family, enjoying a night of really amazing food and atmosphere – I couldn’t be more grateful to have them all in my life and this was the perfect place to enjoy that feeling.
Really there’s no need for me to recommend anything in particular because truly everything is incredible but my personal favourites include the tempura squid with soy and coriander dipping sauce and the house crab cakes. Perfect.
My tips:
Go early Sunday evening when you don’t need to book.
Ask for a seat on the mezzanine which is slightly more spacious.
Use the staff’s excellent knowledge of the menu.
Order lots of smaller dishes so you can enjoy as many different things as possible.
Try the chilled red wine (I forget the name).
Finish with the affogato – the best I’ve had in the UK.
If you don’t like seafood… just don’t bother.
P.S. I wore new Warehouse knit with Topshop leather short and carried Kurt Geiger clutch.
I’m looking for a nice place to go with my fiance and this one seems to be interesting. Hmmm…three days to sunday:)
It’s definitely a great experience but can be a little bit on the cosy side if you’re looking for a quiet romantic spot. If you love seafood though it’s a definite winner. And congrats on your engagement π
Thank You:) We both love seafood (especially prawns), so I think that we will visit this place in the nearest future:)
Lovely casual outfit π Sounds like such a nice restaurant π

Though lunch time is over, you made my mouth water ! Wish I could be in Glasgow right now…!! But I also spotted this nice wee clutch you’re holding. A lovely addition to your outfit !
My mouth is watering just looking at the photos again too!
How fun! I miss my lunches with my mother and sisters. We’d pick a place a few of us has not been before and we’d talk and eat and laugh. It is one of my happier memories involving family!
Your photos are stunning and I am a huge fan of your last photo.
