It’s no secret that I’m not usually a fan of afternoon tea. However… now and again life throws you a curveball and you leave The Sanderson’s Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea pretty sure you could eat afternoon tea every afternoon.
So there I was, last week in London for the day, taking time out from press days on Berners Street…
As if the hotel itself is not crazy beautiful enough, this tea my friends is on another level. Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland they really went to town. Starting with a tea menu printed on playing cards and inside a vintage book… The attention to detail here is so special – pocket-watch macarons tell the time, a ballerina dances inside the sugar box, carrot meringues are pulled from a teacup of grass, fudgey caterpillars taste too good to be true and let’s not forget that green sandwich – I do not know exactly what that was but geez was it goooood. Green sandwiches forever over here puh-lease. And then, just when you think there’s not room for another morsel, those teeny tiny flower pots turn up in their little wooden crate and obviously you’re gonna try them because, you know, that’s just polite. Guess what? Those lil’ guys are also really very good. And edible flowers on top? I cannot tell a lie, I am a complete sucker for edible flowers.
In short, this is a ten outta ten afternoon tea.
Do you guys do afternoon tea? Will you be trying this one? Are you asking to be taken for Christmas? Do you know what’s in those green sandwiches???x

Aww looks too good to eat! P.s. Nope, not a clue what us in the green sandwiches, but I wanna know now! If that is what afternoon tea is like, count me in! X
Love afternoon tea – best one ever was the Ritz last xmas. What a treat. xx
Sadly there aren’t too many places offering afternoon tea in my area, but I would love to attend one. The mad hatter is the perfect theme for a tea and I can not get over the attention to detail! Lovely!
