Do not ask me why but for some reason I had a feeling this baby was going to make an early appearance. I was concerned that I would not have everything in place and the birth not able to be in the midwife unit as hoped. But waking up this morning, at thirty seven weeks, I have a sense of relief – this little babe is now considered fully cooked and whilst it is still our hope to have a couple more weeks to prepare (the bags are still not packed and the birth preferences still not written), I know at least that baby is considered ‘safe’.
So these final weeks, with baby feet making a regular assault on my ribs and carrying around a veritable watermelon, will be spent seeking out comfort in whatever form possible. Loose flowing clothes, the comfiest footwear I own, squeezing in a haircut… heck I even had a pedicure right before we took these pics because, I tell you, trying to reach my toes at this stage has become something of a challenge.
I picked up the jumpsuit a couple weeks back on sale from Free People* (still one of my all time favourite brands for shopping non-maternity with a bump because of the silhouettes they offer) but sadly it seems to be all sold out by now. The sandals are, of course, Fitflop* and just as supportive and comfortable as you would expect from them. I personally adore the toe thong style but I know it is not for everyone so here is the same simple style without the toe floss* if that is more your thing.
This weekend I will be packing the birth bags and filling the wardrobe with impossibly tiny baby clothes whilst the husband embarks upon a ninety mile bike ride around the remote, ferry only access, isles of the West coast of Scotland. Great timing huh?
