Wide leg trousers – the unsung hero of a stay at home summer. Well, unsung no more. Here I am… singing loud.
I will be the first to admit I have a penchant for the impractical. Pam recently helped me with a wardrobe clear out and colour coded my hanging rails… revealing an overwhelming majority of white. And lace. And rather a lot of wide leg, high waist, hems trailing on the ground trousers. Strong choices for someone with two dogs, two tinies and a house in the country. (Pam’s business is Creating Calm Spaces and she is amazing by the way if you need a professional de-clutterer.)
But, for me, one of the upsides of being home a whole lot more than planned has been rediscovering my wardrobe and now, NOW, is the time for all those pieces to get their share of the limelight. Those hems that once necessitated sky high heels to lift them from the clawing reach of unpredicted Glasgow puddles are now free to billow around my bare ankles whilst I waft from the living room no further than the end of the garden. And they are comfortable, oh so carefree and easy for lazy days at home.
I do indeed have many already and this pair are old favourites which I have been sporting for many years – once gracing London Fashion Week and now retired to my rattan sofa, much like myself.
I have done the leg work for you (sorry, could not help myself) and scoured the best of the interwebs to create an edit of the best currently out there if you happen to be in the market.
