All the ease of a dress but the versatility of three looks in one? Sign me up. I spied this matching set on & Other Stories (top & skirt) and could not resist (it comes in a Sicilian orange too which is rather delightful). The eco fabric is such a beautiful quality and weight and I have already worn it many a time, together and as separates.
Such is my new found love for the two piece that I scoured the www for the best of the rest to share with you – as always I paid special attention to the materials so you will find plenty of natural cottons and linens (perfect for staying cool in the summer sun) and a few sustainable options too.

MATCHING SETS (PART I)
brown backless top & skirt – H&M (there are shorts too)
Whit puff sleeve check top & skirt – Anthropologie
red floral top & skirt – Mango (matching for girls too)
ditsy blouse & shorts – & Other Stories (ON SALE)
lemon stripe shirt & skirt – People Tree
yellow strapless top & skirt – Free People
Meadows printed top & wide leg jeans – Anthropologie
Amara red broderie top & shorts – Anthropologie (ON SALE)
I am such a sucker for checks and that Anthropologie oversized tan gingham set ticks all the boxes for me – whilst it looks summer picnic ready as a two piece, individually the pieces would work all year round so full marks for versatility.
Another favourite here has to be the & Other Stories ditsy blouse and shorts set. The shirt alone is such a sweet shape but tucked into the shorts, maybe styled with a wide waist belt, you have yourself some instant French girl chic.
If the Scottish sun was a bit more committed to showing up then that cute red broderie set would be in my basket right now. I love broderie anglaise detailing and the floaty, easy silhouette looks just perfect for beach days… plus it is a really great price in the sale.
MATCHING SETS (PART II)
Peter Som cami & shorts – Anthropologie (ON SALE)
printed crop cami & shorts, pale blue crop cami & skirt – H&M
embroidered halter cami & skirt – Karen Millen (ON SALE)
gingham top & shorts – New Look (and the cami too)
stripe top & trousers – Jigsaw (ON SALE)
floral puff sleeve top & skirt – Warehouse (ON SALE)
white swiss embroidery blouse & shorts – Mango (ON SALE)
beige off shoulder top & skirt – Mango (ON SALE)
My love for gingham truly knows no bounds and how adorable is this blue check set (top and shorts) from New Look? 100% cotton, super price point, a universally flattering peplum shape blouse and the paper bag style shorts with ruffle hems… a match made in British summer heaven. AND I just discovered the frill strap cami too. Honestly, I want all three but trying to remind myself that I already have this…
Perhaps the set that will really go the distance is the linen stripe top and trousers from Jigsaw. It would look wonderful cinched in with a belt or with the top knotted tight at the waist now but, equally, would be so chic for decades to come. A real forever two piece.
Finally I, of course, cannot resist highlighting the white cutwork lace set (blouse and shorts) which just went into sale – that little scallop detail is just perfect. Mango are really on point this year I must say; I have found so many beautiful styles from there this past few months and their sustainability efforts make shopping with them feel all the more justifiable.
Perhaps you found something here that floats your boat or maybe your mind is piecing your current wardrobe together like a jigsaw puzzle right now – try similar prints (polka dots, stripes, etc.) or colours (white and black are easiest to match) to achieve a similar look with something you already own. Have a little fun with it and, whilst I am keeping my fingers crossed that summer stays around a little longer to indulge my two piece wearing, I am equally excited to style the skirt with my cosy cream jumper and tan boots…
