3 ways to style a leather jacket

If ever there was a classic wardrobe staple it would surely have to be the black leather jacket would it not?  It transcends all seasons (in Scotland at least), toughens up pretty dresses but works equally well with casual jeans and ages perfectly over the years.  I hailed the leather blazer one of my 5 autumn heroes and I could NOT be happier to add this wee corker to my repertoire.  (Not least because I previously omitted that my old model fails to button up at the waist these days…).

In my opinion this baby, Aubree by LK Bennett, is leather jacket perfection – the cropped length marries so well with the high waists I am so fond of, the leather is butter soft and the vintage pocket details make my retro heart sing.  The style is fitted so if you float between sizes I would go one up – this is the 10 and it is ideal over a blouse but may struggle to accommodate a chunky knit comfortably.  Did I mention there is a site wide promotion right now too?  £100 off this lil’ beauty…

It is no secret that I adore a leather layer so I took this opportunity to share three ways (of countless I assure you) to style a leather jacket – it may be that you have your eye on this one or it may be that you have an old faithful already in your wardrobe.  Well, dig her out – her time is now.

AU NATURAL

The classic.  I pushed the sleeves up to show the balloon detail of my blouse (love those puffed cuffs) but, essentially, this is her just as she comes.  And she is perfect.

ADD A KNITTED VEST

Caving to the trend yet again.  I think I may have already mentioned that this is a craze I am one hundred percent on board with?  This jacket is not of bulky character so she slips under fairly easily and the collar pops out too.  Ok, I feel a teeny bit like the ‘Scooby-doobeedoo where are you’ tune could be playing in the background but I am not upset by it.

ADD A COAT

Saved the best for last.  A leather jacket under a coat is the most brilliant way to add an extra warm layer to your winter wardrobe.  Cinch a belt over the top if the look is too bulky for your taste but I personally felt that, with this jacket and my old cocoon coat, the layering was just right.

Suffice to say you can probably expect to see a lot more of Aubree over the coming months and years…  which look is your favourite?

That’s a great jacket on you and the cropped length is so perfect with the high waisted pants! Such different ways to wear it too! 🙂
