Sometimes the smallest of changes can make the biggest of differences.
Let me preface this by saying that there was nothing wrong with our bathroom. It has grey floor tiles, white wall tiles and an all white bathroom suite. It is not old, it is not ugly, nor is it big. But it was lacking a bit in the personality department. If you scroll down a bit you can catch sight of the ‘before’ view with its mismatched units that somehow felt like they were leaning in over you.
So we made some very small changes (and when I say ‘we’ of course I mean George, the father-in-law… my vision, his handiwork) and now every time I step into the bathroom, the bright open space lifts my spirits. We switched out the units for this inconspicuous Ikea unit on the side wall by the sink to immediately declutter and then came the mirrors. Houseology kindly gifted these two, which I found on site using their new visual search function (has to be tried to be believed but essentially you upload any image, you know like one of the thousands I save on Pinterest, and the search gives you the closest available options), and they open the space up more than I could have imagined. Added a nice chunky, handmade shelf sourced on Etsy* and dressed it up with these gorgeous terracotta tumblers, a birthday gift from the husband a couple months back. New towels* in my colour palette of choice really change the tone of the space – H&M* have so many beautifully textured options for a totally reasonable price point and mine are washing and wearing well so far. The final touch was a last minute addition following my recent girls’ trip to Mallorca; there was this little restaurant we fell in love with where the decor (and food) was on point – well, they had the spare toilet rolls stored in a basket and I had a spare basket at home so…
P.S. Small bathrooms are not easy to photograph.
