Minibreaking – Ardoe House, Aberdeen

Mercure Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen review - Thankfifi Scottish travel blog-10

Give me a hotel that’s luxuy and dog friendly and I’ll be quite happy thank you very much.  Last weekend we spent the night at Mercure’s Ardoe House just outside Aberdeen, a part of the country I have never visited before.  Now to be completely honest, I had never really been overwhelmed with a burning desire to visit Aberdeen but a quick search of nearby beaches had me sold.

And then we arrived at Ardoe House, winding up the long private driveway was a good start and in fact that set the tone for the whole weekend.  They knocked it out the park.  From the incredible food (best hotel breakfast since Barbados), old school luxury Scottish decor, stunning grounds big enough for a dog walk, the comfiest bed, the perfectly instagrammable floor and the whiskey bar to discovering Balmedie Beach with our picnic, this place was actually a little slice of Scottish paradise…

Sidenote: our room was genuinely about a 5 minute walk through many a corridor from reception and the front door.  Now this meant the night was blissfully quiet and the dogs were well out of the way, perhaps meaning a blissfully quiet night for the rest of the hotel guests (should your dogs happen to be the noisy variety), but it did make things slightly awkward when nipping out for a quick walk.  After navigating the corridors at bedtime, the husband and dogs were skillfully posted out the ground floor bedroom window straight into the grounds for the pre breakfast walk.  Don’t tell.

It looks like such a beautiful place, even if the corridors were a little confusing! 🙂

I really really like that top and skinny scarf combo too – perfect 🙂
