The high low strikes again. The thing is this – some pieces, like good coats and boots, are worth investing in and some pieces, quite simply, are not. Come January will you ever want to see another leopard print? Perhaps not. And you know what? That’s ok. I got your back here – the dress is £22. It is super flattering for any body shape, not too short, easy to pull on and, yeah, it is leopard and mustard (or is that technically cheetah?).
A great coat is another story. Invest smart in a beautifully cut coat in a wool or cashmere and you will be wearing it for years. Heck, a coat like this would not look out of place on future me circa. 2068… Know your colours, know what suits you and know what you love. Me and brown are always gonna be buds. I adore this one, by LK Bennett, because of the toffee shade and the cinched in waist and the oversized pockets and that button detail at the collar. You will be seeing a lot more of her.
And then there are the boots. If you can find leather upper, leather lined, leather soled boots this beautiful then I think you are absolutely onto a winner. I know myself well enough by now to know that these fit my style and my style ain’t changing (much). My mum said a funny thing to me yesterday after an unsuccessful winter shoe shopping trip – she said, ‘The only styles I liked were mega expensive and I am not going to spend that kind of money on my everyday shoes’. I told her those are exactly the shoes you should be spending the money on; the ones you are going to wear day in day out for years, literally until there are holes in the soles…
